13th century convent Torno Lake Como for sale

Sitting close to the shore of Lake Como, this historic convent sits gracefully in the heart of the town of Torno. The convent is now in excellent condition thanks to the care of its current owners. The property is set in beautiful gardens full of scents and vivid colours.

The convent dates back to the thirteenth century and originally formed part of the fortification walls of the town and was probably at the that time the main fort.. It was destroyed and devastate by a war with Como and after a long periof of neglect was run as a nunnery betwene the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It then became a private residence of a noble Milanese family. It has since been renovated to recreate the original furnishings.
